Lowered expectations = easier travel

  1. Don’t check luggage…ever.  You can lose l hour each way (as well as your luggage) if you check your luggage. Most people wear 20% of their clothing 80% of the time.  Eliminate the 80%.
  2. Wear the same thing twice.  Nobody cares what you wear anyway.  If you don’t believe me, ask a colleague what you wore the day before while attending a conference.
  3. Wear Tencel.  It’s lightweight, needs no ironing and if it’s black, it won’t show dirt.
  4. Buy clothes from www.travelsmith.com  They even have reversible clothing.
  5. Wear heavy shoes and pack light ones.
  6. Purchase a “Clear Space” card which permits you to avoid traditional security lines in favor of a “Clear Space” line, which is much faster.  This service is only available at select airports.
  7. What happens if you forget your identification? You actually may get through security much faster!  Recently, I was traveling to NYC with an individual who forgot her ID.  The airline granted her a boarding pass without identification but placed her in a special security line that required her to go through special screening.  That line was actually shorter and we were at the gate quicker.
